To kick off the Book Blogger Love-a-Thon co-hosted by Alexa Loves Books and Kate's Tales of Books and Bands we are happy to introduce the ladies at Rally the Readers. We've asked Lee and Ally a few questions to get to know them better.
Meet Lee and Ally at Rally the Readers
1. What do you like to see in books, and what things drive you crazy?
Lee: I like plots that keep me guessing until the very end and complex characters who are neither overtly good nor overtly bad. I’m not a fan of insta-love; I just don’t find it believable.
Ally: I like strong, relatable main characters. I can’t stand whiney characters who complain about the things that make them interesting.
2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Definitely getting to interact with other readers who love books as much as we do. We started blogging because we didn’t have anyone else to discuss books with besides each other. The rest of our family couldn’t take anymore of our nonstop book talk, so we needed another outlet for it. That outlet was blogging, and getting to meet others who understand our reading obsession has been amazing.
3. You thought of a great question when you asked us what challenges we faced as a team blog and we’d like to ask you back. What challenges, if any, do you face?
Well, the biggest challenge we face is drawing the line between business and family. We are cousins and spend a lot of time together. It would be awful if anything concerning the blog affected our relationship. We don’t like to boss each other around or hurt each other’s feelings, so we try to keep an open line of communication. We tell each other if anything bothers us and then we fix it.
4. Let’s play the Marry/Kiss/Kill Game! Out of Jem Carstairs, Will Herondale, and Jace Wayland which one would you marry, which one would you kiss, and which one would you kill?
Lee: Oh, what a tough question because I love all three! All right, if I had to choose, I’d marry Will because I do love him the most out of the three characters. I’d kiss Jem, but obviously before marrying Will. So by process of elimination, that means I’d kill Jace. Nothing personal, Jace.
Ally: I would definitely marry Jem Carstairs. He’s my favorite character, although I love Jace and Will too. Now, I would kiss Will, but I would have to do this before I married Jem. I would never want to hurt Jem, ahem Tessa! Unfortunately, the golden boy, Jace, would have to die. That would be very hard, seeing that he is one of the best Shadowhunters ever! I might die trying.
5. Ebook or hardcopy?
Hardcopy. Even if we do get eReaders one day, we’ll never stop buying physical books because we just love how they look on our shelves.
6. If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Lee: The ability to fly. I really don’t like driving.
Ally: I am a selfish human being and a huge Marvel nerd, so I would like to pick more than one. When pressed, I guess I would like to have the ability to teleport. I hate waiting on lines and I would be able to teleport to the front of them.
7. What are 3 books you think everyone should read?
We’re both going to cheat a little by counting a whole series as one book . . . .
Lee: Persuasion by Jane Austen, the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin, and Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta.
Ally: The Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, and the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan.
8. What books would you’d like to see turn into movies?
Lee: The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare, the Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand, and Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan.
Ally: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima, and Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson.

I find it so great that you all got matched up (I really don't think Alexa and I planned it this way, it just sort of happened) but for two team blogs to get matched is such a fun coincidence. I love reading through all of the questions and answers! I haven't played Marry/Kiss/Kill since middle school so I just had to giggle when I saw that question!
ReplyDelete-Katelyn
We really liked making that question!
DeleteWe really enjoyed answering your questions and getting to know you ladies better, too! Ally and I took forever figuring out the Marry/Kiss/Kill question. Poor Jace, lol.
ReplyDeleteI would have had Jace go too!
DeleteOooh. I hadn't thought about it before, but I think Tiger Lily could be a great movie!
ReplyDeleteHaha, love the Marry/Kiss/Kill question! I haven't read TID yet, but I've heard so many great things about those boys. And they have to be REALLY good to make you want to kill off Jace :) Also, Ally - YES! Though flying seems like a cool ability, teleporting would really come in handy. And I love HP, PJ and THG. Lovely to get to know these girls better. They're always so sweet :)
ReplyDeleteThey are REALLY Good :D
DeleteThe questions were awesome, and I totally agree that flying would be amazing! Love the GIF! :)
