Top Ten Books That Were Hard For Us To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten list is
"Top Ten Books That Were Hard for Us to Read"

Nicole's Top Five

All of these books are amazing, but handle some tough subjects.
1. If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch
2. Kindness for Weakness by Shawn Goodman
3. Hate List by Jennifer Brown
4. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
5. If I Lie by Corinne Jackson

Ashley's Top Five

I do not read as many contemporaries as Nicole, so it was a bit tougher to
come up with books that had tough subjects, so I have a couple of books that were difficult
to read for some other reasons!
1. Tough Subject: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
2. A lot of POVs and Scary: Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz
3. Tough Subject: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
4. Too Many characters and POVs: Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin
5. Main Character has the same name as my dog: Teardrop by Lauren Kate

What are your top ten?

hahaha at the Teardrop reason! But it's so true! I once picked up a contemporary to discover the male love interest shared my brother's name. It's too weird!
My recent post Top Ten Tuesday: Difficult Reads
13 Reasons Why was definitely intense! I loved how they played it out with the mix tapes though, slowly revealing everything :D
I have the same problem, it's hard for me to read about tough subjects but I hope to cross it off my to do list.

Kindness for Weakness looks like a frightfully difficult book to get through. I'm not familiar with that book. I'm curious. ;)
If I Lie I was a bawling mess reading--same with Thirteen Reasons Why...that was on my list too! Hate List was SOOO heavy :( and I def had a box of tissues by me for TFiOS
The Teardrop reason is actually really true! I've had problems reading contemporary romances before because the love interest's name was the same as my brother or my best friend...and I just can't imagine reading about that. Hate List and Thirteen Reasons Why were both tear-jerkers for me!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of tough, sad subjects so I haven't read any of your books, Nicole.

Ashley…ok, I laughed about your dog's name being the same as the MC in Teardrop. I wouldn't be able to picture the MC other than my dog.

If I would have participated this week I would have had Hate List and 13 Reasons Why on my list as well. I wouldn't have Teardrop tho, simply because I really didn't like Fallen and therefore think I will be avoiding that author, unless the synopsis totally blows me away.
