Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten list is
"Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry.

  1. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling
Everyone who has read this book or seen the movie knows the part I am talking about. I had a serious cryfest during and after this part. I couldn't talk to anyone about it without crying hah. I still tear up when I think about it years later. Saddest part of the series for me.

  2. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
  3. A girl watches her father slowly die of cancer. I knew it was coming and I still balled my eyes out. Morgan Matson told this story beautifully.

  4. If I Lie by Corinne Jackson
  5. This book was rough all around on the feels. But one part in particular made me lose it.

  6. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
  7. A beautiful story about friendship, sacrifice, bravery - so many things, in one of history's darkest times.

  8. Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
  9. This book killed me.

  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
The ending was just so perfect :)

  2. Champion by Marie Lu
  3. Again, I loved the way the series ended up but prior to the epilogue I defintely teared up.

  4. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
  5. The overall message and intensity of this book can make ya cry.

I put Code Name and Rose on my list too. I mean how could you not? All the ugly tears, all of them!

I'm not surprised that Harry Potter made it to all the lists I've visited so far. Such an emotional series! I can't wait to read A monster calls & Code name verity.
There's no way a HP book isn't going to bring the feels. Especially the one where ... oh, God, I can't even bring myself to think about it. I've retconned it in my mind haha

Elizabeth Wein's books are definitely tear-jerkers! I've also only read Legend so far so you have me NERVOUS for the rest of the series!!
Harry Potter totally made me bawl like a baby. I'm also looking forward to A Monster Calls too!

I've been avoiding A Monster Calls for this very reason! I have a very hard time with "crying" books and usually do my best to avoid them (sometimes regrettably so). I'd agree with The Harry Potter series (as a whole) as well as Champion (it really was the perfect bittersweet sort of ending, wasn't it?).

Second Chance Summer was quite sad, such an emotional book. And yes, I definitely teared up in Champion. That epilogue...ahhhh! The paper clip ring just really got to me. Great lists!

I haven't read Code Name Verity or A Monster Calls yet, but they're both on my TBR shelf. I'll have to remember that I'm going to need tissues for when I read them! They both sound like they're going to be pretty sad.
