Ten Series Hanging in the Balance

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten list is
"Ten Books We Will Probably Never Read" but we modified that to "Ten Series Hanging in the Balance"

Nicole's Top Five

1. Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson - Everyone tells me this series gets better with book 2 but I have yet to muster up enough motivation to read it. Who knows if I ever will.
2. To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han - I feel like the only person who wasn't smitten with To All the Boys I've Loved Before. Was it cute? Sure. Am I dying to read the sequel? No.
3. The Selection by Kiera Cass - I want to break up with this series but if the library gets this book on audio, I will probably read it because I'm easy like that but I kind of hate myself for it.
4. Goddess War by Kendare Blake - I felt so underwhelmed by Antigoddess that I honestly completely forgot about this series until making this list.
5.The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes - I had a lot of fun reading the first book besides a few big setbacks, the romance being one of them. And apparently that doesn't get better in book 2.

Ashley's Top Five

1. Sealed with a Lie by Kat Carlton - I really enjoyed the first book, it was a fun fast spy book but for some reason the sequel just is not jumping out at me to read.
2. The White Rose by Amy Ewing - I had such a hate-love relationship with this book, I really did not like the insta-love but that ending, I need to know what happens next.
3. If I Should Die by Amy Plum - The first two books were enjoyable but by the time the third book came out, I just lost the spark to continue one.
4. Polaris by Mindee Arnett - I need some push to finish this series, I enjoyed the first book but just keep hesitating in starting this it.
5. The Lovely and the Lost by Page Morgan - I adored the first book with its unique premise and started the second one on audio but could not get into it.  I do want to try again eventually.

What are your top ten?

Ooo!!! I love what you did with the topic this week ;) For me, (and I believe I'm in the minority) I wasn't impressed with Cress by Marissa Meyer. In fact I was sorely disappointed, not sure I want to read Winter now.
I think the heir is just an unnecessary book in the series.
Top Ten Tuesday
I broke up with the Kiera Cass series a long time ago. I knew my team would never win the love triangle, so I gave up on it. Plus, the book wasn't really compelling. I need to read the Rae Carson series though. Everyone says its fantastic.
And yes to Sealed With a Lie. I enjoyed book 1, but I haven't felt the urge to pick up the sequel. I was the same with The White Rose, but a twitter friend convinced me to try it. Apparently there are some great twists, so I think I'll be trying it.

I never read any of these except The Selection. The first book is pretty great, but I kinda didn't like the third book. Also, even though I haven't read To All The Boys I've Loved Before, I have a feeling that the sequel is unnecessary.

I love your twist on the topic. I have SO MANY series hanging in the balance. I'm notoriously bad at reading sequels. I'm with you on The White Rose. Love/hate, but I still NEED to know what happens next.

i know i'm not going to read the heir. i read the selection and i hated america. she was so stupid! unfortunately i already bought the 2nd and the 3rd book in the series. i was so sure i was going to like it because of all the hype. maybe when i feel like torturing myself i'll read them. :/

I kind of took a zigzagged approach this week and landed on this twist. I'm not going to read The One. While The Selection was fun, The Elite lost its footing and became pretty harpy. I pass on ever finishing.

Nicole - I too am so bad at having that need to finish a series even if I don't think I will like it. Partly because I need to know what happens and partly because I don't like leaving things unfinished for the most part . BUT sometimes if I hear enough negative things about the next book in a series or if I straight up didn't like the other books in a series I will probably skip it. Unless of course a certain bestie of mine tells me the second book is not bad and that I should read it. Then I will read it. :)

Ashley - I am super hesitant about reading Polaris as well. I liked Avalon a good deal but I didn't love it but I am curious about the next book. Really I have no idea if I will ever read it. :/

I've managed to stay away from selection despite its popularity and I'm proud..lol. Awesome Post!!
Check out my Top Ten Tuesday
As far as I'm concerned I never want to read The Selection series...

Check out my TTT.
I love what you did with the topic!
I'm sorta dying for reviews of The White Rose - haven't read book one, but I want to know if it's worth getting through to get to the sequel.
The Selection series... LOL. You know I'm staying far away from that.
I did enjoy both Fire and Thorns and If I Should Die!

Nicole: 1. I didn't like the first book all that much, but yes, it gets SO MUCH BETTER. 2. What? I don't think we can be friends anymore. :) 3. I'm reading it. Can't help it. 4. Agreed. Still will probably read it. 5. Agreed. Read Killer Instinct and trust me, you can skip it.

Ashley: 1. Haven't heard of it! What? 2. I feel the exact same way. I have to know what happens. 3. I read all of them but I totally understand. 4. I have had Polaris for awhile now from the library but I don't remember the first book that well and I need to reread and I just don't want to…so yeah, it'll be awhile. 5. WHAT??????? I just read the last book and YOU HAVE TO FINISH THIS SERIES. Most perfect ending ever. Seriously. READ IT!!!!!!! Ok, that's enough, I guess.

A lot of these books are probably not going to see the light of day for me as well. If i'd one one of these memes today, I'd probably ended up with Top Twenty. Lol.

I think I can assure you that if you didn't like Book 1 in the Rae Carson series it doesn't really ever get much different or better. I enjoyed the books fine enough but I wasn't bowled over by them. You are fine with not continuing on.

Also, boo to The Heir. Boo forever I say!! Haha :p

Lovely list, ladies! And again, SO GREAT to meet you last night, Nicole!!! Yay for Philly book friends!

I had The Selection series on my list too, it just doesn't seem like something I would like. I liked the twist you put on this week's list.

Oh Nicole! You are so missing out! Book 2 is actually my favorite book out of that entire series!!! <3

The Selection just doesn't look like a Lili series to me, so I'll probably be avoiding that one.
