Top Ten Books We'd Recommend To Each Other

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten list is "Top Ten Books I'd Recommend To X Person (your choice -- could be to your mom, to a reluctant male reader, to your teenage sister, to dog lover's, to sports lovers, etc.)".

1. Everbound (Everneath #2) by Brodi Ashton
So Ashley and I both felt lukewarm about Everneath. In fact, if I hadn't won a copy of Everbound, I am not sure I would have continued in the series. At least not right away. So imagine my surprise when I LOVED it. Like LOVED LOVED LOVED it. So I have been trying to convince Ashley to read it for almost a year now. I am mad at her that she hasn't. She even has my copy. Shame on you, Ashley. =P

2. Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1) by Kasie West
Because this book is awesome. And it has cool Sci-Fi elements that Ashley will love, and the parallel future thing is just so well done, and the ending broke my heart. And because Split Second will also be epic. It's Kasie West, after all.

3. Slated (Slated #1) by Teri Terry
Ashley liked The Program which I've heard is very similar to Slated, which I loved, so I think she should read this one too. Especially since Slated came first.

4. Don't Turn Around (PERSEF0NE #1) by Michelle Gagnon
I think Ashley will really like this one because she is a computer nerd and likes suspense/thriller books.

5. Sanctum (Guards of the Shadowlands #1) by Sarah Fine
Because I think everyone should read this book. :)

1. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Nicole strongly strongly disliked Eleanor & Park which I loved so I just NEED her to at least like Fangirl

2. Mind Games by Kiersten White
I think Nicole will either quite enjoy this one or absolutely hate it.  So I am curious what she would think!

3. Defiance by C.J. Redwine
Defiance has a strong female lead so I think there is strong potential that Nicole may like it.

4. Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn
Simply because it is such a different read.  And she needs to read it so we can discuss the ending/so she can explain all the confusing parts to me

5. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
No really good explanation here :)

Ummm, I want to read all of the books on this list that I haven't read yet. You ladies have the best booky tastes!

I actually felt the same way about Everneath, it was just ok. Interesting that the second book is so much better. The problem is that I would have to read the first book again because I barely remember it. Love Kasie West so I'll read anything she writes. I also really enjoyed Slated. And Sanctum...recently read that based on your recommendation, Nicole, so I second that recommendation!

I really liked Fangirl and Mindgames and Defiance is so good, so I definitely agree with all of those recommendations. And Another Little Piece...such a weird, twisty, unique book. Creepy creepy. I still haven't read any Patrick Ness, but I keep hearing such great things about him.

Great lists! ~Pam

Totally agree that Everbound was excellent, although I liked Everneath, too - just not quite as much. And Pivot Point was wonderful. It was the best of the numerous parallel lives books I've read this year.

Wow, Nicole - I think you might be the first person I've come across who didn't love E&P! I still need to read it, but I loved Fangirl, so I've got high hopes. And Another Little Piece is seriously creepy - in a good way.

Enjoy these books, ladies - hope you get to them soon!

Someone *disliked* E&P? (Good thing we're all accepting and non-judgmental around these parts... lol) I have Fangirl but I haven't read it yet. Seriously looking forward to it. Although all of these are on my TBR pile, the only book I've read off either list is Another Little Piece and I really didn't like it. :( The premise was creepy but I just didn't "feel" it, despite wanting to, and I was so very confused by all the disjointedness. That being said, a lot of people have *loved* it, so hopefully Nicole will as well. :)

Everbound & Defiance are two great recommendations! :D
