Summary from Goodreads:
The earth-shattering conclusion to Veronica Rossi's "masterpiece" Under the Never Sky trilogy and sequel to the New York Times bestselling Through the Ever Night (Examiner.com).

Their love and their leadership have been tested. Now it's time for Perry and Aria to unite the Dwellers and the Outsiders in one last desperate attempt to bring balance to their world.

The race to the Still Blue has reached a stalemate. Aria and Perry are determined to find this last safe-haven from the Aether storms before Sable and Hess do-and they are just as determined to stay together.

Meanwhile, time is running out to rescue Cinder, who was abducted by Hess and Sable for his unique abilities. And when Roar returns to camp, he is so furious with Perry that he won't even look at him, and Perry begins to feel like they have already lost.

Out of options, Perry and Aria assemble a team to mount an impossible rescue mission-because Cinder isn't just the key to unlocking the Still Blue and their only hope for survival, he's also their friend. And in a dying world, the bonds between people are what matter most.

In this final book in her stunning Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi raises the stakes to their absolute limit and brings her epic love story to an unforgettable close.

What I Liked

  • I was immediately drawn right back into the dangerous world of Aether storms, fighting tribes, and epic love stories.  Into to the Still blue does not disappoint.
  • Rossi's ability to write shines through the alternating point of views.  I could feel the love and tough decisions that Perry had to make while also seeing the struggles and new relationships/friendships that Aria had to overcome.
  • Even in the last book, there were surprises and unexpected turns and events that just kept me on the edge of my seat.  The new introductions just fit so perfectly into the story and really rounded out and tied up Aria's part of the story.
  • While I was reading I was hoping for one change in the ending but it did not happen... which after a lot of thought I am actually okay with and can appreciate the choices Rossi made when finishing the series.  Into the Still Blue did not take the predictable way out, there were some risks that kept my emotions and stress on high the entire time!  In a good way :)
  • The characters continue to be one of my favorite aspects of this series.  There are romantic relationships, family relationships, and friendships.  Each written with such detail and preciseness that you can truly feel the brotherly love between Roar and Perry, the friendship between Roar and Aria, the love between Aria and Perry, and the family bonds between Cinder, Talon, and Perry.  The good relationships aside, the evil and power hungry nature that Sable radiates just highlights the danger and stress of the situation Perry and his tribe face.

What I Didn't

  • I know I just gave Rossi credit for taking risks, I can appreciate them and understand the choices she made.... that being said there is a sappy happy part of me that wishes just one thing were a bit different :)

Bottom Line

Into the Still Blue was a fantastic ending to one of my favorite series.  The book was full of action, emotions, and high stress situations that blended love, revenge, power, and community into an epic final conclusion.  I highly recommend the series!

:) Wasn't this the best? I mean, of course there are some things that I wish were different because they broke my heart, but I also like that Veronica Rossi takes risks--and definitely isn't afraid to make you hurt. And yes! The characters! They're fantastic and complicated and just wonderful, even the evil ones. Great review!

Did the change in ending you wanted have to do with C?

If so, me too.

I presume the one thing you would change would be the thing with Cinder, in which case, I TOTALLY agree. And honestly, it's not even about HOW it happened, but the fact that there's no additional mention after the fact. I wanted more out of it. But yeah, I totally respect Rossi for the choices she made. Part of what makes this series so great is that there are sacrifices made, that people suffer. It makes the triumph in the end so much more meaningful that way. I thought this was a brilliant series and I still can't believe that it's over.

So glad you loved it! I honestly think this is one of the best series enders I've read in a while. The characters just grew each book, and with each book I was able to fall more and more into this world. I loved how everything wrapped up!
I also got REALLY into the romances in this book too! I always liked Perry & Aria but I finally GOT IT in this book haha!
This series didn't end how I expected to and yet I felt like it ended exactly how it was supposed to! I absolutely love Aria and Perry and how they grow as characters. I also love how they are better people because of each other. I have to admit I cried at a particular part in this book and I won't say why because I don't want to spoil anything. But this book moved me, it made me laugh, it made me cry, and it gave the conclusion this series deserved!
