"Top Ten ALL TIME Favorite Authors"
Nicole's Top Five Ten Fifteen
I can't limit myself to 5 or even 10, so here are my top 15. And can I just say ... Girl power?
1. Melina Marchetta
Read: Finnikin of the Rock, Froi of the Exiles, Quintana of Charyn, Jellicoe Road, Saving Francesca
Melina Marchetta is pretty much unparalleled in my eyes. Her words never fail to amaze me.
2. Kasie West
Read: Pivot Point, Split Second, The Distance Between Us, On the Fence, and The Fill-In Boyfriend
Kasie West is 5 for 5 in my book and pretty much the master of swoons.
3. Elizabeth Wein
Read: Code Name Verity, Rose Under Fire, and Black Dove, White Raven
Wein wrote 3 of the most hauntingly powerful books I have ever read and has made me cry 3 times.
4. Sarah J. Maas
Read: Throne of Glass #0.5-3, A Court of Thorns and Roses
I would take a bullet for Sarah, just so she can keep writing. I am not sure I have ever been so emotionally invested in a character’s life as I am with Celaena’s. #MaasThirteen
5. Maggie Stiefvater
Read: The Scorpio Races, The Raven Cycle #1-3
After Marchetta, it’s Stiefvater who amazes me the most with words.
6. Stephanie Perkins
Read: Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, Isla and the Happily Ever After
Not only are her books lovable and quirky, but she might also be the sweetest author I have ever met.
7. Marissa Meyer
Read: The Lunar Chronicles
Anyone who can spin 4 fairy tales together in a completely new and wonderful way is a winner in my book.
8. Emery Lord
Read: Open Road Summer, The Start of Me and You
While I’ve only read 2 books by Emory Lord, they are both among my favorite contemporaries and I can already tell they won’t be the last from her.
9. Kristin Cashore
Read: Graceling Realm #1-3
Kristin Cashore the only author I stalk to keep abreast of new books. I am so obsessed with the Graceling Realm series that I cannot wait to read something else by her.
10. Leigh Bardugo
Read: Grisha Trilogy #1-3
She introduced me to my book boyfriend.
11. Sarah Fine
Read: The Guards of the Shadowlands Series #1-3, Of Metal and Wishes
She creates the most vivid worlds and the most romantic couples. I will champion her work all day, every day.
12. Laini Taylor
Read: Daughter of Smoke and Bone #1-3
Because she gave me Zuz, Karou, Akiva, Brimstone, Ziri and all of the other Chimaera and Seraphim and made me weep for them.
13. Gayle Forman
Read: If I Stay, Where She Went, Just One Day, Just One Year, I Was Here
Her books are full of lessons and beautiful words. I will read anything she writes.
14. Victoria Schwab
Read: The Archived, Vicious, A Darker Shade of Magic
She plays on my fantasy-loving heart strings like no one else.
15. Robin LaFevers
Read: His Fair Assassin #1-3
These books have it all and I am in awe of them.
